So we had a wonderful lesson yesterday on spiritual warefare! I know that the devil has been trying to tear our team apart by homesickness, physical sickness, and for two of our team members, nightmares. Yesterday after our session we went to wong... which is a version of walmart here in Lima. Mindy, our supervisor, bought a bunch of chickens! We got back to the hostel and, as a team, we had to completely cut the chicken up! Cooking is going to be difficult!
After we cut our chicken, on of my team members told me that she felt very faint. After taking a few steps she fainted! Scary stuff! Please keep her )as well as the rest of our team) in your prayers! Pray that we can stay healthy!

day 2 and some of day 3
So... Peru stays awake 24 hours in the day.... at least Lima does. These past two nights have been difficult because car alarms keep going off and people keep screaming! Yesterday we had many classes to help us prepare for the mountains. We learned about worldviews and cool stuff like that! The missionaries in Lima have been leading our studies and their insight has been super helpful!
Yesterday afternoon, once we finished our sessions, we walked a couple of miles to the beach! The pacific ocean is BEAUTIFUL! The water is clear here in Peru! We even got to watch some surfers do their thing! After, we prayed for our trips and then walked to Papa Johns for supper! Did you know that Lima had that? But yeah, it was great!
Today, we had a session on the Quechua people that we will be encountering and living with this summer! I am really excited to meet these people! Their culture is so different so it will take a while to get used to!! .... One thing that will probably take all summer to learn is that I cant look men in the eye. Apparently thats intense?
I just got back from lunch and that was an experience! We went to a legit Peruvian restaurant that serves traditional dishes and i must say that these Peruvians LOVE their starches! I had lomo santado which is a dish made up of steak, tomatos, onions, french fries and soy sauce. Its then poured over rice!
The rest of my day will consist of a class on spiritual warefare and a free afternoon (where we can leave in small groups and tour the city of Lima)! Adios!

Day 2
hey guys! Made it to Lima last night at 1130ish... I am super tired but I will survive! haha. Today we are having sessions to help us prepare for mountain living and witnessing to the people! I am super ready but I think it finally hit me that I wont be home for the next two months. My team is awesome! These girls seem like such great, Godly individuals!

Day 1: 330 am...
Today is the big day! Its a beautiful day today.... too bad the pitch black darkness is hiding it! haha. I am up and ready to roll! My first flight is at 8:45 this morning! I will have a full day of flying and will arrive in Peru around 8:45 tonight! I really dislike flying but I know I am in God's hands and he will keep me safe! Well, mis amigos... next time you will hear from me, I will be in Lima, Peru! Hasta Luego!

My trip to PERU is less than 2 months away!!!!! HOOOORAYYY!
Man I feel like I haven't postedo on my blog in forever. I apologize! But I now feel the need to update on my trip!!! I just read my first blog post, that I put on here literally right after I found out I would be going to Peru this summer. It's funny because at that point I really didn't know ANYTHING about what I would be doing. God has really blessed me with a great supervisor in Peru that has been able to share a whole lot about the trip and what I would be doing!
So, to get started with the exciting information, I will begin by talking about the wonderful group that I will get to spend the summer with. I am a part of a 6 girl team. Please keep all of the girls in your prayers : Amber, Karen, Olivia, Jordan, and Lynnlee! I haven't met them all in person (because they are from all around the US), but facebook has helped out a WHOLE LOT! Last weekend, I was able to meet Jordan at our missions orientation. She is an amazing person and it was really encouraging to know that she is going to be on our team! Also, pray that there are some people on our team that can cook! We will be preparing all of our meals and (if you know me well) I am no chef!
There are no IMB missionaries in Recuay. The REAP strategy (which is the strategy of reaching Peru for Christ) is a strategy where churches in the US adopt a certain location. The church who works with Recuay is from North Carolina! Even though there are no IMB missionaries in Recuay, we will be working with a national! She is fluent in many different languages and she will help be our translator!
Where exactly will I be? Recuay is located in.... you guessed it....the mountains of Peru. When I realized that God's intent for my summer would be to spend it in Latin America, I thought about nice and warm weather (I LOVE LOVE LOVE the heat)... but God (who is quite a humerous God) knew that Peru meant cold and wayyyyy out of my comfort zone. It is around 10,000 ft in elevation (and for any of you who were like me and didn't know what that meant, it means that I won't have anywhere near the oxygen content that I have now). Elevation sickness is a HUGE prayer request.
What will I be doing? The whole trip deals with building relationships with the Peruvians! My supervisor sent me some really cool details about how we will be building those relationships including: washing clothes in the river with the women, teaching in the local schools, playing soccer/volleyball with the children, leading Bible studies, prayerwalking... etc!
I am so excited about this opportunity!!!! Hope everyone has a blessed weekend/week!!!!

Drumroll PLEASE!!!!!...
So, after a nice 4 month process, I found out today that (God willing) I will be traveling to Recuay, Peru this summer from June 1-July30! I am super excited because I feel that this is something that God is wanting me to do (I found this out through lots and lots of prayer and reading His word). I know that God is calling me to be a misisonary in life (a missionary in Latin America in fact), so this summer will be a true eye opening experience.
This is super exciting to share on this blog because this is the whole reason my blog was created!!!!
Well, now after sharing my exciting news with the world, I do have a few prayer requests. I must raise money in order to go on the trip. This will amount to around $1,600 (probably) and I honestly have nothing at the moment. So please pray that God will help me in raising my funds as well as the other students going on summer misisons through BCM! It is very exciting!!! Please also pray for the people that my group will come in contact with while in Peru. Pray that God opens up their hearts to the amazing story that we will share with them!! Thank you all so much!!! :)

A Sandwich
So today I was hanging out with my friend and we were talking about Christians and how many seem to be indifferent and don't live the way Christ intended. After a long talk, I realized that I was STARVING.... well I was at least really hungry. I told her that earlier I had eaten Chex Mix but that only filled me up for so long, and now I was ready for some yummy subway. I was trying to fill myself with something new because the Chex Mix only satisfied me for so long.
Right after I made my comment, a lightbulb went off in my head. Many people (Christians and non-believers) tend to try to fill their lives with "stuff" that will satisfy them. Many times they are successful, but their success is short lived. They then turn to something new and hope that it will have the same effect only a lasting one. But, it never "fills them up". They are never fully satisfied. I know that many of the "lukewarm" Christians today are like this. They say that they live for Christ, but then you see them trying to fill their lives with something else, and they constantly wonder why they aren't happy in life.
When we fill ourselves with the Living Water, though, we will be satisfied forever. LITERALLY! Once we truly decide to stop filling ourselves with junk that will never amount to any long term happiness and realize that the only way to find true joy in life is to follow Jesus and live the way that Christ has called us to live, we will be satisfied. I have always believe that you can tell if a person is a Christian from the way they present themselves and it is so true. Let me explain: a person who is a Christian has this joy within them that is very apparent. That doesn't mean they are happy-go-lucky all the time. But it is apparent that they have joy.
Oprah Winfrey looks like a successful person in life. She has many television shows and now her own network. But I understand that she isn't truly successful. She is not a follower of Christ. That is why she uses her work to fill up the hole where Christ should be. She believes in satisfying yourself in life. But Christians know good and well that to gain a satisfying life, you must lose your own life, and you must serve Christ by serving others.
I know I have gone off into many tangents in this blog, but it will be okay. I leave yall with this question: What is your life filled with?
